I downloaded this so that I could have a copy of Robert's Rules of Order in our school board meetings but it is practically useless. This is NOT the most recent 11th edition. It is the ninth and the contents, format, pages, etc. are completely different. So when you are in a meeting with that one snotty person that likes to quote Roberts and has the paperback edition, they will be able to find stuff faster than you AND they will say that their version rules because it is the most recent. Really puts you at a disadvantage to have this Kindle version.

Don't buy this version. Worst product I have ever bought from Amazon, and worst book I have ever bought anywhere. Looks like something produced by a kid and never proofed before printing. It does a disservice to a revered resource. Pretty cover, but you know what they say. I'll have to find another version somewhere.....

This book was not at all what I expected. From previous reviews, it appears that different versions of the book are available under the same heading. When I first opened the book, I thought the initial pages were errata for what followed but the entire book seemed to be some kind of annotation or perhaps abbreviation. This book does not have a table of contents or index, so trying to find something in the book is practically impossible. Unfortunately, I did not look at the book as soon as I got it nor did I need the reference within the first 30 days of ordering it so cannot return it. If you decide to order this book, be sure to look at it as soon as you get it so you can return it if you got the same version I did. I have learned my lesson and hope I can prevent someone else from making the same mistake. Now I will have to spend more money getting the right text but, this time I will go locally so I can be sure I am getting what I need. This one will go in the trash because that it all it is good for.

We bought this for our pastor to help him with an easy version of Roberts Rules of Order. It's a very nice condensed version of the basics you need to know to conduct a meeting. I liked it and will order another one for my husband. It's much better for a refresher course than than the big book. It tells everything you need to know in a short and precise format. Very handy.

Compared to my old copy (which was falling apart and had the corner chewed by a puppy), the new version is totally disorganized, the so called index is a mess and practically unreadable. It seems as if someone had the bright idea of "modernizing" it to make it more readable by attempting to clump like subjects together. Instead of moving in an organized systematic method all they did was make a mess.

I wanted the whole thing, the complete book, but this is the "pocket guide." If you look hard enough on the web page for this item, you will see that it is the "Pocket Manual of Rules of Order for Deliberative Assemblies." I didn't look hard enough before I bought it, but I should have figured the entire book wouldn't be available on Kindle for $0.99 when the paperback is $12. If it was the whole book for Kindle it would have been about $10! Fortunately, I figured it out before my 7 days were up and I was able to return it. Maybe you'll read this and save yourself the trouble.

This Kindle version of Robert's Rules of Order lacks a copyright page and an edition page necessary to authenticate it as the authoritative version for use at a meeting. Until these issues are corrected, purchase is a waste. Each edition brings changes and no one wants to stand up to argue a point only to have someone else observe aloud that you haven't bothered reading the most recent edition which changed the rule governing your argument or point. Save your money until the most recent edition is formatted for Kindle.

Anyone having responsibility to preside over meetings in a variety of settings should have a copy of this book. In it you will find the help and advice needed to prepare properly, and officiate properly. The result will be a well-run meeting that actually accomplishes something in a reasonable time. I give 5 stars also to the seller for fair price, fast delivery, and a book in very good used condition as advertised. Can't ask for much more. ps: It's also a good idea for meeting attendees to be familiar with Roberts Rules, so as to be enabled to offer corrections/suggestions when meetings begin to get out of control and "off-topic".

Still waiting. The needless loss of life was disheartening and her not understanding what was going on seams unrealistic. She new her shifter lover was extremely attached in a very short period of time and that shifters and vampires were enemies. She lied to him about what She was going to do but left his car parked near the vampire late were he could easily track her right to the door... Playing with fire and gasoline often results in an inferno.

This book went by extremely fast and I had more questions after it was finished.In this book we get to see more of Charlie's relationship Roth both Erik and James. Lots of action and plenty of mystery. Charlie goes from healthy and living to barely alive and close to death. But get heat is torn in two as both men fight for her love. Love has a way of passing games and the games Charlie is involved in can treat her heart in two.

Absolutely LOVED!!!! A new favorite PNR book of mine moving on to book 3 now!!!

It was a great build on the story. I liked the part where she was experiencing the memories, but I don't think it needed to be dragged out like it was. I don't like how she was in and out for so long with little understanding of what's happening. She made the contribution and then we get no understanding of why she struggled so much.

Sorry really tried to like this series but I just can't...Charlie (MC) is too selfish, weak, stubborn and naive I could hardly stand it. For someone who was supposed to be tough and in the police force etc... I'm dumbfounded with her lack of common sense and obvious prejudice towards vampires. Her back and forth to help Erik or not, her woe is me mentality in book 1 and then her constant blacking out in book 2 .... yah no thank you I just can't, this MC is just totally not for me. But I am happy it was KU, cuz I would've been hella pissed off if I spent money on this.

The second book in the Darkness Bites series picks up right where the first one left off. Erik is dying and Charlie, having just found out he has sacrificed himself for her, is rushing to him.I both, liked and didn't like this book more than the first one.What did not work for me:•Charlie's choices. Some of them made me angry with her, whilst others just disappointed me.•The plot. The story was good, I enjoyed it, however it felt prolonged and not much happened.What worked for me:•Erik. I really loved that there was more of him in this book and that we got to meet him more closely.Overall, I did enjoy the book and will be reading Darkness Bites as I can't wait to find out what will happen next.

Liked the book very much.

When we lived in Miami in the '70's, I decided to take up stained glass as a hobby. The community college offered wonderful courses taught by professionals at rock bottom prices.I'd draw my patterns and cut my glass pieces and come to class. My instructors would look at my designs and proceed to tell me how I would have to cut this or that piece into sections. "Why," I would ask? "Because you'll never be able to cut a long curving piece of glass in one piece," they'd say. "I did," I'd say. I would then show them several pieces of long curved pieces I had cut. After several weeks of repeated encounters of this nature, I stopped going to class.I'm not a know it all. I am a why person. Connie Sheerin clearly explains why. She assumes you know nothing about the terms needed to purchase mosaic supplies. She carefully explains what everything is in a brief matter of fact manner. She provides pictures of everything she's explaining in case you're a "picture is worth a thousand words" person. She doesn't talk to you like the village is missing its idiot. She just starts at the beginning so that she can build on this firm foundation.1. You learn how to estimate supplies needed when working with one media or mixed media.2. You learn how to attach mosaic to different types of surfaces whether they are porous or nonporous.3. The different adhesives to use if your work will be indoors/outdoors, vertical/horizontal/flat/curved, and grouted or non-grouted.After you've read this book and practiced on some pretty inexpensive craft projects, the only limit will be your imagination and your pocket book.The only glaring fault of this book for a beginner is that I believe she doesn't spend enough time teaching you how to cut the tile or glass. I have some knowledge and I had questions on designs I'd seen at the fair. So many of her designs were simply not to my taste; however, I believe that's purely subjective.

I bought this book as an undergrad thinking about grad school. I wanted to learn more about what career opportunities would come from a PhD in sciences and I wanted to know what I would be getting myself into if I chose that path. This book is packed with great advice for what happens after you're finished with the highest form of formal education there is. Feibelman explains from his own experience (as a physicist), and others' experiences, routes in academia, gov, and industry. He also explains skills that formal education wouldn't necessarily teach you: getting funded, interviews, giving talks, etc.This book showed me a side of academics and the scientific community I hadn't known. And let's just say I didn't know what a postdoc was before I read this. I think the information in this book is invaluable to anyone who has, plans to, or is even considering pursuing a PhD in a science.

I would recommend this book for any PhD student in the hard sciences: Physics, Engineering, Math, Chemistry, etc. It gave me some real insight into what the world of research (industrial or academic) will be like when I graduate with my PhD. If you're just beginning a PhD program, or are considering Masters vs. PhD, this should be must-read material. I'm surprised my universities have not offered a class that covers this type of material, it would be much more useful than the mandatory ethics classes they force you to take.This book seems written for people who have already finished their PhD or are about to graduate very soon. I wish it had more about getting THROUGH the PhD in the first place, but that's too much to ask. This book focuses more on what to expect AFTER your PhD program, although some of the advice on picking an advisor, mentor, and research topic are applicable to anybody. So is the chapter on writing and presentations.

I am currently a graduate student. In a couple years I will be applying to PhD programs. This book had some great suggestions. I definitely feel slightly more confident pursuing a career in research. The book specifically addressed some things that I had some concerns about, specifically establishing yourself as a researcher in a competitive market. The job market will not be very competitive in my area of research, but funding is extremely competitive and big NIH research grants are extremely rare. I now have a better sense of direction.

I am currently pursuing my PhD and devoured this book. A PhD Is Not Enough is full of practical, useable advice and information. This book takes the reader through finding an advisor, giving presentations and seminars, teaching loads, postdoc job considerations, publishing papers, everything. The author's background in physics is close enough to my own field that every insight into graduate school and the subsequent career path translates into my own experience nicely. Dr. Feibelman gives a great rundown of the motivations of professors you may choose to work with during the various stages of their own careers and how that will affect their students for better or worse. Topics such as what sorts of projects to take on during your postdoc position, pros and cons of university labs verses government labs, obtaining funding, setting up your own lab or research area, and what interviewers are looking for prove very helpful insights into academia and will allow the student better preparation for each stage. It's a quick read, insightful, with an honest look at the sometimes contradictory forces of the academic environment. I highly recommend this book for anyone pursuing PhD and pursuing a scientific career.

This book is extraordinarily valuable for anyone with a doctoral degree in the natural or social sciences (Although the author is a physicist, I found his advice transferred very easily to my experiences in the social sciences, and is far better than similar books by social scientists. I only wish this book had been available when I was a grad student). The author is concise; he says what needs to be said and leaves out the fluff. I strongly disagree with those reviewers who said his advice was common sense. If that were true, then why do so many intelligent students fail to follow these guidelines and end up dropping out, struggle in dysfunctional environments, or in some way fail to reach their potential? I found his advice to be rich and rewarding, and what he said frequently described the people I saw every day when I was a grad student. The fact that he refers to "overhead foils" is trivial and does not mean the book is outdated; the advice is not outdated by any means.Not everyone sees things the same way or has the same experiences, and I am sure there are other viewpoints, and one should always seek out a variety of opinions, but the author has a viewpoint that one should not miss. A short book, but one that is worth its weight in gold.

I read this to see whether to recommend it to graduate and undergraduate students in the sciences that attend my university. The author is a well-credentialed scientist at Sandia National Laboratory.There are many opinions presented that people considering or attempting a career in scientific research should know. Interviews, preparing talks, choosing what to publish and how, research plans, weighing various career options - all these topics are addressed.Some opinions differ from mine, most notably his preference for government labs like his over universities, but common sense generally prevails. The prose was vaguer than I prefer, much of it seemed obvious, perhaps because I've already been there. A few times it was obvious this dates to 1993.Overall, I prefer the book Academeology (google it) by "Female Science Professor", which nails the university life with much greater accuracy and precision. Aspiring scientists should really read both, and go into their careers with their eyes open.

Excellent book, very informative. After reading this, I think I no longer want to do agility - it's a lot or work! I am an amateur! I want to train my border to do tricks to show off her abilities and have fun with exercise. I had no idea how much went into agility training. You need to be seriously interested in the hobby. Which this book clearly shows. I found it to be an eye opener for me.

We are at our summer home until Dec 1. I got this book and some agility equipment to help my puppy (just turned 1 by now) continue learning new skills while we were away from her trainer. The book is easy to read and very helpful in showing how to break down the training for each piece of equipment. (We are not trying to train for agility competition, just giving the dog something to do.)

I wish our dog was a better reader.

I don't necessarily want to compete with my dog, but this give a great start from which to start. I am just looking at a possible new, additional way to focus her to my instruction, a new way to play and a new physical activity to wear her out without necessarily going to the dog park. This fits the bill!

Love this book. Concise and informative. Lots of helpful tips which as a beginner I desperately need. I just wanted to get to try for fun with new standard poodle pup. Great stimulus for her and for keeping me in shape. Keeping up is the real issue 😊 As an avid reader I would highly recommend this book. Also like it has instructions and tips for building own agility equipment. Loved the price point as well.

We love this book! This has given my dog and me some wonderful drills to improve our agility game before we move onto an intermediate’s class. The information is very well organized and is clear and easy to understand. I’ve found that it follows what we’re learning in class and throws in a few additional ideas for when we’re practicing on our own. I’d recommend this book over the other books on dog agility that I own.

This book is not only great for starting agility but it's also good for training in general. I have always enjoyed training my dogs but I've been able to take it to another level using some of the techniques and guidelines laid out by Leach. The layout and photos look nice and it's enjoyable to read. There is really a lot of preliminary training required though, so if you haven't done much training with your dog or you have a puppy, you will quickly realize that you have your work cut out for you. I had anticipated jumping into the actual agility training but it seems that several months of preparation are in order. All in all a great tool for training your companion, whether they end up being an agility trial runner or just a well-behaved dog.

It works! Just trained my schichon , your basic house dog, to jump and go through the tunnel, with snacks of course. :) Its fun family entertainment when the grandparents come over.
