About the Author
Tomie dePaola is the beloved Caldecott Honor- and Newbery Honor-winning author and/or illustrator of close to 250 books, including Strega Nona and Quiet. Tomie was born in Connecticut and grew up there with his parents, brother, and two sisters. He loved reading and books from an early age and knew, when he was four, that he wanted to write and illustrate stories when he grew up. Great Irish story!!!!! The octagonal rocks are real at the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland 🇮🇪
Great children's story for St Pat's Day. A good read-aloud for the 5-6 year old set, and good reading for 7-8 year olds. Have used it as an anti-bullying lesson for character ed, as well. One giant bullies an entire province, until he comes up against a smart LADY giant who puts him in his place.
Cute book
A great book for kids and adults, well-written with wit and great art. I am always looking for good books that have roots in cultural folk tales, and this is one of the best about Ireland. I have used this book for many years with my own children and grandchildren, as well as school children from ages 3-10 and they always love it.

Very cute story about the legendary giants of Ireland! Sweet Fin comes out just fine with the help of his clever wife!
Tommy De Paola's rendition of this Irish folk tale is witty and subtle. It's delighted children in my family for 30 years.
