Excellent compilation of weapons. Only slight issue is the print which is apparently a reproduction of magazine articles so lacks a bit in clarity for my old eyes.

A great reference source, don't expect a definitive write up for every weapon. But that isn't the intent of the book. I recommend.

When we received the book it had a $20 price tag in it. We paid 2 times that price. Ridiculous

This book is a quick read, but contains the same old information that has been passed down for years. Be responsible, return phone calls, do annual reviews, and you can't succeed without a good Farmers District Manager. Write high end clients, not low end, be likable and use a process to cross sell. Oh, Make sure you always answer the phone. In the event your carrier doesn't pay then write a $18,000 check out of your own pocket? Are you kidding me? If your carrier says it's covered then denies it, I recommend that you find a new carrier partner! Hard work and having a vision is a way to grow an agency which is also mentioned but I found no real solutions or big takeaways. Instead it seems very geared to making a Farmers Career sound better.

This is a must read to for any insurance professional. I've been an agent for 4 years and this Boone have really helped me with some basic fundamentals to be able to run my business more successfully. Mr. Bart Baker has really helped me to see a bigger vision of what's possible by sharing his own experience and successes.

I m a Independent Agent/Broker and doing pretty good for my first 6 months. This book has showed me the next level of growing my agency so I can enjoy life and manage a business instead of managing a job.

This book does precisely what it says it will do - challenge the scientific method's claim as The Epistemology. The body of the work is a detailed historical case study which he uses to make a historicist argument against the current scientific method, and the argument is both interesting to follow and rigorous. The Appendices are more impressive in my opinion, although noticeably more difficult. In there Feyerabend creates a larger system of argument and attempts to attack the scientific method not only empirically, but also theoretically. The last chapter is of course a completely different species, and in my opinion fundamentally elevates the work. Read it for yourself to find out.

Give man 1,000 years and he will discover that the Earth goes around the sun. I read this waiting for Paul to say, "to hell with science!" But he never advocated anything so destructive. And this is good because technology is so dependent on research and development. Give credit where credit is due. If we ever enter a new paradigm, it will include all that we have accumulated and discard quite a bit as well. This paradigm may never even question what we were tinkering around with in the sciences. We can only hope that technology doesn't give rise to anarchy. Wisdom of crowds will dominate and the lonely laboratory technician will send the sheep to the next stage of our evolutionary history. The method of science is sound for now and we should count our blessings that we have discovered most of what was there to be discovered. Let's hope we can find our way to prosperity, truth, and beauty.

While I do not adhere to Mr. Feyerabend's point of view, I thoroughly concur with his concerns with Science as a publicly funded activity and privileged authority. An entertaining and inciteful set of ideas.

A great book - probably more timely and necessary and insightful in 2016 than when written. Feyerabend was and is obviously a "feather-rustler" of the scientific establishment - for which I am grateful to him. I have spent a lot of years being suspicious of the pious, arrogant, self-serving, omnipotent attitude of some/much of science and scientists. I have become painfully aware of how many grand proclamations and expectationshave been foiled onto humanity, especially the under-privileged, under-developed, and unwitting - only to have history show them way short of the mark and actually doing great harm to lesser populations and our Planet.For the 1st time for me, Feyerabend lays bare the follies of the scientific method, the damage it does, and the new, creative ideas it attempts to squash in the name of method - really, though, in the name of power, control, and arrogant hierarchies. I've felt that most new, good, ground-breaking science has come in spite of the method - from outliers, amateurs, radicals and radical approaches. He is right on - very focusing for me. And, with science in need of a new view of science, of people, of the planet, and a new approach - his is a refreshing and necessary effort if we are to move ahead into the real world of diversity, equality, and quality, esp. with Natuarla Systems, complex situations, and chaos - which is where the big problems facing us lie.Bravo for brave new ideas against an establishment long over-due for a "reset" and which would allow brave new proposals leading to world-changing and world-view changing results.BravoDick Pierce

When I first started getting into the philosophy of science I had several of feyerabends thoughts and objections in mind, but this was before I had read him so I didnt exactly have a steady foundation for myself when it came to sourcing academics (which, for one reason or another, is a keystone of argumentation these days). After reading this book I was astonished that there was someone in the field of academia who had the same ideas as me, and elaborated on them ten fold! When I picked this up I didnt put it down till I was finished, and after that I was so sold to the idea of epistemological anarchism I went out of my way to make all sorts of additions to the internet that included his work, and even lended this book to one of my old science teachers (who, from what I've heard, loves it just as much as me). If I ever ran a science or a philosophy class this would be on the reading list every year. The only thing that gets me is why this isnt more widely read already. I highly recommend this to everyone, whether they're new to or already into scientific philosophy, or even philosophy in general. This is one of my favorite books i've read, definitely a must read.

I superb piece of writing, full of original thoughts. Worth every penny, for those interested in relativism and the arrival of the plurality of scientific knowledge(s) and methods.

The day this book was released, I read an excerpt posted somewhere or another wherein Tyson strangles Don King from the back seat of a limousine that King is driving. That sold me - I thought I was going to read a couple hundred pages of Mike Tyson telling insane stories. What I got was immeasurably better.This book is Mike Tyson's life story, in Mike Tyson's words, as told to a writer. It might not be the undisputed truth, but it is his truth, and it's his entire truth. It is brutally, unforgivingly honest, and while he has few kind words for the likes of King, Robin Givens, and Desiree Washington, no one fares worse in these pages than Tyson himself.Whatever you may think of Tyson, he is without a doubt one of the most fascinating sports figures of the past hundred years. He's a study in contradictions: a terrifying boxer with a temper that one could charitably describe as "mercurial" and yet he speaks softly, almost effeminately, with a lisp. The man said he was going to eat Lennox Lewis' children and praised Allah in the same sentence. He was paid tens of millions of dollars for fights that often lasted less than one round, and was bankrupt within ten years. Of course this guy's story is going to be great.But the two episodes in his life that he's most known for, his tumultuous (and allegedly abusive) marriage to Robin Givens, and his rape trial after a night with pageant contestant Desiree Washington gone horribly, irreversibly wrong, aren't glossed over. At all. If anything, he talks about them - the trial in particular - in detail that's simply uncomfortable. And it has to be. If he's to have any absolution, any redemption in the public's eye, he has to be able to tell his side of the story for those who want to hear it, those that wonder if perhaps his in-ring persona was unfairly turned against him.Undisputed Truth spends many, many chapters on how that persona developed, from both his cruel childhood on the streets of Brooklyn, to his being taught by Cus, the only father figure he'd ever known. Tyson's relationship with Cus is a well-known and oft-romanticized slice of boxing history, and the realization that everything that he learned from his childhood and from Cus that made him the tremendous fighter that he was being precisely what ensured his time at the top was so short and why he was so ill-prepared for life as Iron Mike had to have been painful to come to and write about.Whether you find Tyson as fascinating as I do, or want to learn more about the man behind the glove (and there's much, much more to him than I expected), or just want to know what in the world he was thinking with that tattoo, you absolutely must read this book. Don't expect 500+ pages of back-patting. All too often, memoirs are just a remembrance of happy times, rough patches smoothed over or omitted entirely. It's refreshing to read someone so well-known write something so unflinchingly honest about himself. This dives headfirst into the realm of absolute self-loathing. However much you might despise Mike Tyson for some of the things he's done in his life, he despises himself so much more for them.I want to think that this is the time he gets it right. That this is the time he has another chance and doesn't throw it away. That he's able to wipe away a little of the stain from his legacy, to be able to provide for his family, to find some peace. After reading his story, I'm not sure, but I'm rooting for him. Just like the old days.

People who consider Mike Tyson to be a villain have never truly studied him, and have probably never encountered true villainy. Those who consider him to be a hero have never studied the real nature of heroism. And those who consider him to be an illiterate brute simply don't know what they're talking about. In my sixth decade, after a lifetime of reading, I think that "Undisputed Truth" is the most honest autobiography I've ever encountered. An official of the New York Public Library has likened it to Augustine's "Confessions," but perhaps a more apt comparison would be to "The Education of Henry Adams."Although I'm a boxing fan, I never liked Tyson when he was fighting. I believed, and still believe, that his boxing skills were vastly overrated. He was certainly not an ornament to the sport when he wore the heavyweight championship belt. But who, including Cus D'Amato, ever thought of this infinitely complicated man as merely "a boxer?" They thought of him as a wrecking machine, a savage, "the baddest man on the planet." He certainly did bad things, and was an utterly abysmal "role model" (something he never aspired to be), but he was more than that. Most people who know his story know of his beginnings in life, which were not merely humble, but squalid and unimaginable to most of us. (Charles Dickens would have understood.) And Tyson himself has never stopped talking about those beginnings, or about the heartaches and cruelties that molded him; but his recollections of a troubled youth and a scandalous young manhood have never taken the form of a whimper or a cry for sympathy. When cursing out virtually the entire human race at times, his outbursts have been genuine, inimitable howls of rage. But there's more to the man than the rage, and that's what this book is all about.Whether recounting his most scandalous missteps, or calmly reflecting on kindness, love, and his own lifelong search for such things, Tyson has always been, just perhaps,one of the most honest men on the planet. There are plenty of other candidates for the title "baddest."He is also a genuine intellectual: not necessarily someone gifted with a high I.Q., but a man to whom ideas matter: a man of vast reading and vast contemplation. In describing his adoration of his wife Kiki and his youngest children, he quotes a long love letter from Napoleon Bonaparte to his Josephine. He has not merely read such writers as Dostoevsky and Nietzsche, but has internalized and incorporated many of their ideas into his own life. Their books may gather dust on his shelves, but their ideas come to his lips as readily as a profanity or a sigh. It is typical of life's ironies that this "thug," this man who won the world's acclaim by battering others with his fists, is in fact a man of ideas. This book tells very little of the history of boxing, but it is stunning and unexpected in its honesty. The title is perfect.Note: Tyson's stage show of the same name, and its adaptation by Spike Lee, bears virtually no relationship to the book. In the show, Tyson is a wisecracking entertainer; in the book, he is a naked soul, and as complex as a soul can be. It is unclear from the heart-rending epilogue whether or not Tyson has yet attained happiness. If not, one cannot read this book without hoping that he does so.

He reveals his own self-hatred, his attempts to clean up his life, and his uncertain future with wife Kiki and family.I was thoroughly impressed with a writing so honest and so revealing. "Undisputed Truth" is the life of Mike Tyson. I think the reader will be amazed at the frenetic, hedonistic person Mike Tyson was and is. His dark side is monumental, his honesty is impetuous. He's Mike Tyson, heavyweight legend and scared little boy imprisoned in a body made for dominating others.The final epilogues going forward in the life of Mike Tyson are just as enlightening and compelling as the rest of the drama that is Mime Tyson.Highly recommended. About the Author

Tomie dePaola is the beloved Caldecott Honor- and Newbery Honor-winning author and/or illustrator of close to 250 books, including Strega Nona and Quiet. Great children's story for St Pat's Day. A good read-aloud for the 5-6 year old set, and good reading for 7-8 year olds. Have used it as an anti-bullying lesson for character ed, as well. One giant bullies an entire province, until he comes up against a smart LADY giant who puts him in his place.

A great book for kids and adults, well-written with wit and great art. I am always looking for good books that have roots in cultural folk tales, and this is one of the best about Ireland. I have used this book for many years with my own children and grandchildren, as well as school children from ages 3-10 and they always love it.

Written too much from a technical/businessman's perspective which doesn't make the reading easy!

Newcomers in Paradise is a treat for any reader who loves the dry wit and delicious humor of the sort that you would find in James Thurber's stories. While Bob and Pat Fulmer and all of the other players who inhabit these pages are not exactly the zany characters we find in Thurber's family chronicles, Fulmer's anecdotes are nevertheless written with the consummate skill of a true humorist. It is a delightful saga, and much more than an account of one couple's trials and tribulations, as we follow them, zig-zagging north, south, east and west across the country in search of their Shangri-La, all the while keeping up with careers and speaking engagements on both coasts. The book is a great read as their story unfolds, and chronicles a path to a meaningful new life in retirement. The author's levity is a wonderful spice peppered throughout the entire book.

I read this book with a mixed agenda of instruction and escape and found it stimulating and helpful. To me, other recently popular books overly glamorized re-location and retirement outside the US - unlikely and unsatisfying concepts (it seemingly requires enough coping skills within the familiar customs and conveniences of this country). More than a how-to book, the author's honest account of conquering retirement, re-location, house-buying and historic renovations, ongoing communication and partnering adventures (spousal, familial, friends, systems, and community) ends up conveying his journey and discovery of a real romantic life within a la` Santa Barbara. The book establishes the depth of the author's observations, intelligence, and consideration to all involved in the process, including the reader!! I hope there will be a sequel, perhaps Sunrise in Santa Barbara, and the author and his wife will host a party on the beach to which I will be invited! After reading this book, it somehow seems attainable.

Not everyone can relocate to Santa Barbara, but anyone who has ever made a major move can relate to Bob Fulmer's engaging tale of settling down in that enchanting city --albeit by fits and starts. As Fulmer's odyssey illustrates, getting established in a new town is never as quick, direct or trouble-free as one thinks it will be. In fact it always costs more and entails a lot of more aggravation than one anticipates. But on the up side, relocation also brings with it liberation, adventure, the joy of meeting new people and the excitement of trying new things. Whether you're seeking a "how to" or the vicarious experience of picking up stakes at a certain age, you'll find a lot to enjoy in Newcomers in Paradise.

A beautifully written book about the process of deciding where to spend one's retirement years. This should be must reading for anyone thinking of retirement or just trying to identify the best cities in the U.S. to retire.

The Hunter Blade trilogy is Drizzt's finest moments as a swordslinger. With this two blades, he sets on the task of destroying the very thing he believes killed his friends - the hordes and hordes of orcs and orc-kin.Drizzt, like other Forgotten Realms heros (Elminster, Khelben "Blackstaff", Cadderly, Halaster, etc) is a hero for one reason - they always triumph over evil. It is, for lack of better words, the epitome of this type of story character. Whether in fantasy novels, spy novels, or scifi - if it is fiction, then the hero is better than the average man (or Drow in this case) and above his lesser enemies. That is one reason I like the stories of Drizzt by Salvatore. He loves this character as much as his avid readers do and has come up with story after story on this particular ranger's latest exploits.Overall, this story is a bit dark - revolving around Drizzt's struggle with his inner "dark elf" self. His race is known for seeking vengence, for destroying entire Drow Houses in bloodlust - and Drizzt, a ranger, dedicated to maintaining the over and balance, must release his anger - but remain true to his calling. As a slight caveat - I am a big fan of DnD and the Realms, if that wasn't obvious, so my review may be swayed a bit towards liking Salvatore's work.

At first The Lone Drow was a tough read, by all means it certainly is throughout but by the end I have found a deeper perspective than I had throughout the beginning and even middle of the epic, and there can be no lesser descriptor, middle piece of this Trilogy. There are MANY depressing notes in this book, themes that seem to repeat themselves from older books and even themes and plot lines that are driven home to the point where I often found myself in anger or frustration screaming GET ON WITH IT. Then I took a step back and realized that these weren't simply repeated plot lines for the sake of filling pages but each served the necessary function of driving the contemplations of each of our beloved characters deeper into themselves. In the case of Wulfgar who required several books to get back to his "normal" self it felt more as if he was a slave to plot and that at any real time he could have been brought back easily with the stroke of a few keys, whereas, spoiler warning, the events of that lead into this book and the events of the book itself were necessary to drive the characters into a wall, forcing them to contemplate their existence and question the morals and beliefs they had always upheld but had never before been truly tested against the weight of reality. This book signifies a loss of innocence for Drizzt and even for Cattie Brie. Both are forced to face not only their mortality but the mortality of those they truly care about and are driven to the very edge of their morals and question the truth and strength of their convictions. In this realization I have come to consider this book the best yet by my favorite author and I eagerly await the next chapter that I shall commence the moment I finish this review.

Lawrence Ferlinghetti will be one hundred years old this month. He is a Navy veteran, poet, activist, leftist, publisher, and a book store owner. San Francisco in the 1950s was a place of change. Old conservatives and the Beat movement clashed. Ferlinghetti's City Lights bookstore became a hangout for the hipster crowd. One of the group was Allen Ginsberg. Among the paperbacks the bookstore was offering was the self-published Pocket Poets featuring Beat poets. One such copy would bring a great deal of notoriety to Ferlinghetti, City Lights, Ginsberg, and the First Amendment.The Howl and other Poems was the centerpiece of a San Francisco obscenity trial in 1957. Ferlinghetti, as the publisher, was arrested. The trial, although it seems incredible that poetry would be censored in America of all places, would become a fantastic victory for free speech. It could have easily gone the other way. Judge Horn was a Sunday school teacher who sentenced five shoplifters to watch the movie The Ten Commandments and write the lesson they learned about stealing. He would hardly be a choice judge for the defense that chose trial without a jury. The parts of the expert testimony and questioning are included in the book as well as a tremendous amount of documentation, background information, and interviews after the fact. The trial played out more like a trial about free speech than against Ferlinghetti. Neither Ferlinghetti nor Ginsberg testified.The authors Ronald K. L. Collins and David Skover both are experts qualified to dissect the case. Collins is the co-director of the History Book Festival. He was the Harold S. Shefelman Scholar at the University of Washington School of Law, and from 2002 to 2009, a scholar at the Newseum's First Amendment Center. Skover is the Fredric C. Tausend Professor of Law at the Seattle University School of Law. He teaches, writes, and lectures in the fields of federal constitutional law, federal courts, free speech & the internet, and mass communications theory.The trial, however, did not end the case. The judge did a commendable job of separating his personal beliefs from case law, and although the book was allowed, reading it on air became another fight. The use of some language is not permissible by the FCC. That fight is ongoing. WBIA (New York) wanted to air The Howl for the fiftieth anniversary of the San Francisco decision. The station backed down fearing a four million dollar fine. It posted the poem on its web page instead. The poem was, however, aired in the 1950s on public radio without any backlash. This book reminds the reader that poetry, and speech in general, can still be regulated in a free country and it is still something that is feared by society and governments. Poetry remains a social force and a weapon that some would like to see banished if it does not conform to their beliefs. Poets still stand up and speak; Publishers, like Ferlinghetti, will still publish. Resist.

I feel a bit like a grinch for only giving this 3 stars - it is an amazing story of one family's triumph over autism. It's non-fiction of course, so one can't analyze a plot line or character development - but my problems with this book were many. First and foremost, I fear that it will create guilt in parents who aren't blessed with the incredible network of friends, family and community that seemed to be working here, often without overt recognition by the author. Guilt, because some may feel that if only they devoted all their time and energy to their autistic child, they too could create a high functioning math genius. Most do not have this luxury, and the truth about genetics is that most children, autistic or completely "normal" will not achieve what this fellow did. I applaud and admire this family and the incredible outcome...but wish there were more recognition of their extraordinary circumstances and caution that others, no matter how hard they work may still have a child who will always need some extra help. the call to all parents, to trust their gut to know their children, to fight for them, and to at least try what the parent thinks will be best, is a good one. But it doesn't get everyone such a happy ending.

I was hoping this book would help me with my autistic child, since the author is a mom of an autistic child just like me and nota psychologist or counselor.But no, she has very good points like to find out what is you child's passion and to always advocate for himBasically her autistic child is not like most. He is a genius and she is a super mom with a super husband it was hard tobelieve at times all his support. As a book is very interesting but a little unrealistic and like I said if what you are looking foris a book about support from a parent experiencing what we really go thru with having an autistic kid you won't find it here.

I got this book because of my own ideas about autism and teaching. Both the mom and boy, as well as dad, are the heros in this book that is a pleasure to read as well we educating. But to me, the mom is one in a billion. She had an insight into her son and it ended up being an insight into all autistic kids and does apply to regular kids, too. They keys seem to be rather than focusing on what you want the child to learn, focus on what they can handle and want to learn. The boy ended up being a genius. Her 2nd insight was that play was vital and important and that if they got play, they were able to end up doing the regular learning that everyone wanted. Everything falls into place when you resolve their needs. There other things, too. But this is, in my opinion, a great Psychology book and how to teach book. On e of the better books I have read in some time that was easy to read and yet full of revelations. Do not hesitate to get this book and read it. There is no way you will regret it and if you have an autistic child, this is essential for your child and you.

This unusual tale of a family struggling to meet the needs of their brilliant, but autistic son was well written, but I left with the feeling that the events were too good to be true. How did the author manage her very needy older children, recover from a stroke and care for an infant all while running a preschool. Even with the support of her husband and friends, life was pretty tough. I was left wondering about reality. However, having worked with autistic children mainstreamed in my classroom, I think that the results achieved by the family and supporters do prove that if the needs of the child are observed and recognized, not just pigeonholed, that child has a better chance of reaching his/her potential. The author expresses in the clearly, well written memoir.

The Spark is well worth reading. While you are following the story of how Kristine Barnett was able to connect with her son and release his gifts, you will be thinking of how you can strengthen the relationship with your own children, and how you can help them develop their own special talents. Too often in life we are told that we are not enough. That we have to fix our weaknesses and change who we are, in order to succeed. The Spark shows us a different way to raise our children and maybe even a different way of looking at ourselves. The author's advice can be summed up into the following: 1) You are not alone. Build a community. Believe in your kids, and in each other's kids. Do it together. Don't wait for the system to come and save your kids. "Through resilience and hard work, we'd done it ourselves, and we'd done it together." (101) 2) Focus on your child's gifts and do whatever you can to nurture his or her passion. "Any child will outperform your expectations if you can find a way to feed his or her passion." (73) 3) Give your child a place to be himself or herself â€“ an art studio, a cooking place, a construction area â€“ but "give it freely and without any expectations." (70) 4) Watch and really listen to your child. Then get out of their way. "Showing a child that you take his or her passion seriously and want to share in it is the most powerful catalyst in the world." (76) 5) Gifted children are afforded much more time in their day to focus on the things they care about. Give your child that time. (95) 6) Get into your child's world, instead of expecting him to come out to you. 7) Follow your intuition and trust yourself. "Every parent has to be a fighter on behalf of his or her kid, not only the parents of kids with autism or developmental disorders." (102) 8) In all things, there has to be a balance. Don't forget the importance of childhood and of simply having fun. "I believe it's a parents job to close up the chess board and send the kid outside to play. The child needs to have friends his own age; he can't discover who he is in a vacuum. (134) 9) Whenever you feel depleted, connect with your senses. Make your house smell like a home. Make yourself physically warm and comfortable. Nourish yourself and your family with a home-cooked meal. "Indulging the senses isn't a luxury, but a necessity." (160) 10) It's hard to trust your child to find his or her own path, especially when we are told every day that children must fit into rigid boxes. But take the leap. Celebrate your child's passions. "If you fuel a child's innate spark, it will always point the way to far greater heights then you could ever have imagined." (250) In the author's words: "Don't ever be afraid to be who you are.
