This book is young-level reading material, say middle to high schoolish. The author writes lots of trivia-like detail, and I did learn some things, but overall it whitewashes the harsher aspects of BTS's journey, saying things like the boys were criticized for certain things, or they had a hard time, but it doesn't explain how or go into any analytical depth about these events. So those looking for in-depth research and the boys' responses about what actually happened will be frustrated by this book. Also some ideas are unresearched and thus incorrect. For instance, in regard to fans' tweeting "ThankYouJimin" in early 2018, the author only says it was random, not that it was in response to him being mass criticized by antis and that fans were trying to make him feel better by saying, Thank you, a phrase Jimin is known for often saying to his fans. So I wonder what else was incorrect or incomplete that I don't know about. Also, I'd bet $100 the author is a V stan, which makes the book feel unprofessional since there's a sense of bias in it. Typos abound, especially as the book goes on. The author also often uses amateurish words as well, like once when referring to their creative content, s/he uses the word "stuff," so this book can feel fairly amateurishly written. To sum up, I might buy this book for a young BTS fan who wants to know more about them from a general, positive viewpoint with a light touch. I'm still waiting, though, for that brutally honest, in-depth BTS biography that I can really sink my teeth into.

This took a very long time to arrive however it came in perfect condition and the pages with pictures are nice to look at. The book is written simply so that it's easy to understand for more ages.

I really wish I could have given the book a better rating because it is in some ways an important book with an excellent theme. The institutional church in the west has gotten to be an organization rather than the organism the New Testament says it is supposed to be. Full time clergy have wrestled everyday ministry from the body of Christ as if there was no priesthood of believers at all. The line between the professionals and everyone else has gotten both bolder and thicker so fewer people who profess Christ seem to be on mission at all. The book captures these ideas really well as a critique.I think the book falls down in two areas, both of which have been commented elsewhere so I won't go into detail. First of all, the Neil is sloppy and almost condescending at times about the church as it exists and has existed in history. It's hard to believe he criticized the Apostles for remaining in Jerusalem. His criticism of the orthodox definition of a church because it didn't have Jesus was a bit silly in my opinion (as it seems his friend agreed with me), and what does it mean that a 15-year old girl "started a church." I'm pretty sure Paul knew some 15-year old girls and didn't send any of them to plant churches. In fact, Paul said elders were necessary in churches and said one of the criteria for an elder was "not a new believer" which Neil seems to disagree with. (Neil does cite churches in China as examples for how quickly growth can happen, but he doesn't comment on the really bad theology that is present there or the influence of cults like Eastern Lightning on the church there because of the lack of elder qualified men leading many of those house churches.) There are lots of other theological problems with the book both big and small that I simply don't feel the need to list because I am not trying to beat up on Neil.I think the second place the book falls down is in the application of these principles, and that's partly related to the theological gaps. I would have liked to know what criteria is used to determine when one of these tiny churches plants another church and how they decide who ends up leading it. From the narrative, it seems like he encourages women and new believers to start churches but I don't know that he ever comes out and says that. He does mention multiple times that a worship leader is important in a new church which isn't in the Bible since Romans 12:1-2 says all of life is worship so I gather that's important to him but I don't know anything else from this book.Like I said, I am glad I read the book. It is an easy read with colorful commentary. It is a solid challenge to the establishment churches who are doing things their way and insist that their experience rather than the bible be used as a guide, but I'm afraid as helpful as Neil's perspective is in some areas he does the same thing by explaining his experience as God's anticipated norm.

This book was a catalyst for retiring my brain. As an Anglican, our ecclesiology is building and clergy centric. Cole exposes the way our tradition as Anglicans needs tweaking if we want to be part of God's redemptive work in the world. Two critical points were exponentially worth the price of the book. First, the best soil is where the soil is darkest from fertilization. The Gospel grows best among people most in need of transformation and healing. Second, the best evangelists are the newly redeemed. My tradition must free ourselves from our buildings and ministry-consuming ideas. Instead we must make homes, pubs, coffee houses, libraries, and even strip clubs the place for us to bring the Gospel. And the clergy must be freed from the notion that they are NPO managers so they can help train and empower others to evangelize the growing fields ripe for harvest.

Yet after several years and many experiences in organic church he was retested by C. Ridley's church planter's assessment, and scored higher in the areas of his previous incompetence. Cole is very honest in sharing both the success and failures he's experienced, and is not shy about sharing the story of Church Multiplication Associates or CMA, either.I definitely enjoyed Part Three: From the Microscope to the Telescope and Pat Four: The Epidemic Kingdom and How it Spreads the most because Neil explains the "how-to" of organic multiplication. In the front of my copy of Organic Church I have written down the main themes as they relate to the American post-Christian, agri-culture: A) Remember Jesus is Lord of the Harvest and the Master Gardener. Only God produces growth and He knows when it is time to prune. B) The Laborers always need to be aware of what season they are in C) Sometimes you need to till the ground and pull weeds before you can plant. D) The most receptive soil is often that which is most fertilized E) Living Water and Light are essential. F) Growth happens first, and then fruit is produced. G) Branches must stay connected to the Vine in order to live and thrive H) Seed is meant to be scattered.Lastly, the spiritual DNA of an organic church looks like this: (D)ivine Truth-Faith, (N)urturing Relationships- Love, (A)postolic Mission-Hope.

I was embarrassed to realize that I had not reviewed and recommended this book before, for it is probably the most distinguished account of a genuine Golden Age which I have ever read.It is statistically intriguing how many of that crowd seemed to have a native, unschooled gift for writing well. I recommend reading a collection of articles from "Ascent" entitled "Ordeal by Piton", edited by Roper. I think you will be impressed by the caliber of the essays.Many of the reviewers have picked up on the feeling that climbing attracts a certain type. The author of "Chomolungma Sings the Blues" encountered a psychoanalyst who was making a study of the climbing fraternity and I suspect there is a body of literature on this fascinating subject.Many reviewers have mentioned the intense nostalgia this book evoked. I was often in Yosemite in the late sixties, not climbing but on the trail with a Kelty on my back. To be reminded of California days when I could be alone, say, in a walk-in campground---on Pt. Reyes---on a weekend---fills me with anguish. A vanished era.

Wow! Steve did an excellent job of portraying the 'climbing scene,' as well as accurately describing the many colorful characters of the era.I spent some time in Camp 4 during the summer of 1965 and met many of these wonderful characters. But...as an earlier reviewer pointed out, this was an extremely closed society, and non-California climbers were treated with disdain. Younger "wannabees" were pretty well ostracized, and women? Well, women climbers really didn't know how to climb! Living on next to no money, sleeping under a rock, hiding from the rangers, confronting bears, scarfing food in the cafeteria and coffee shop, stealing tips from the restaurant tables were all "normal" for many of these gifted lunatics. Many of them were my friends, and a good number of them haven't survived to present day and I miss them. Pratt, Fredericks, Sacherer, Roper, and numerous others; they were certainly unique individuals.This was a heart rending book for me--reminding me of days gone by and the experiences I had in Yosemite.

I was a Yosemite climber in the 1970's and met a number of the major characters (Frost, Chouinard, Robbins, Harding). Steve Roper has done an incredible job of capturing the ephemeral facts and essential spirit of the climbers and times. He is frank about their weaknesses: "We were thoughtless and immature"(pg 154) and "...we were puerile youths. We had been taught the correct values at home, yet we rebelled against everything," (pg 155-6), referring to the troubles they caused in the Vally. He is honest about his own failures, both in his own character and on climbs he could not do. He is enthusiastic about the successes of the pioneers and freely gives credit to those who deserve it. Steve not only gives you facts, he gives you feelings and insights. You can't get better history than this.The only criticism I have is that the book ends. I could have kept reading for many more days. If you want to FEEL what it was like, buy this book. I will bet you can't read it only once.

Steve Roper does a fine job chronicling the evolution of man and rock climbing in the golden era of climbing. His prose is easy to follow and enjoyable. Thank you for taking the time to put it all down.

Roper's "Camp 4: Recollections of a Yosemite Rockclimber" is a great read for anyone interested in the history of rockclimbing in the valley. As I went through the book I was thinking back to the days I invaded Yosemite's walls and staying in Camp 4 in the late 80's. I actually pulled out my old guide book and looked at the beta on some of the historic climbs that I never did climb. Roper's book started to make me think about taking a trip back to the valley to ascend some of those routes.

Fantastic Book. If you are a mountain history buff, a California climber, or just love a good read about something delightfully random, this is a must read.

The story has a fair premise, but I found the writing style to be unpolished, like a first draft that isn't ready to capture our hearts and attention.

This series is an embarrassment to the genre, and an insult to Jack Reacher fans. The quality of writing is deplorable, unimaginative and unoriginal. The idea with which Ira Levin thoughtfully expanded in 'The Boys from Brazil' is thoroughly debased, here. The setting is some 80 years in the future, yet there is no real feel for it, other than Hardin's mention: nothing advanced; nothing developmental...In fact, one is hard pressed to see any current time. Character development is lacking; Wahlman is at best a shadow of his alleged progenitor. I do not read any author experience or anything approaching solid research. Certainly not the quality we read in Lee Child's work. This author is untalented and unoriginal. The editor, also, seems an amateur.Hardin is not to be included in the competent authors of 'The Reacher Files'.

Jack Reacher is one of my all time best characters and so I thought a book based on a clone of the man would be a good read. I was thinking, wow seven books - this is my reading for the next 2 months. Silly me. We're talking about being set in 2082, but we still have the same 9mm hand guns, Uzi's of 2018, the same coffee shops the same cars and trucks, in fact everything except some electric cars. Otherwise America went to sleep for sixty years? Oh, wait - there was a mention that humans did also live on Mars and was no longer the dream of years ago.I lost interest about a book and a half into the seven and skipped and tried some more later in the books but it got no better for me. Not my finest pick.

If you are a Jack Reacher fan and have read all of Lee Child's books, I guess this would be an okay way to get a fix while waiting for the next one. It doesn't have the same impact and style as a real Reacher book, but it does have lots of action with all the Reacher strength and skills on display.But be aware that these are not books; they are short stories. The stories each form a part of a continuing saga, but they would work better as chapters of a real book. Calling these short stories "books" is misleading because you aren't getting nearly as much as you might with real books (this 7-book package feels like the equivalent of a single Reacher book). Worse, each short story has to repeat everything of importance that happened in the previous stories, so we get, e.g., our protagonist's backstory told to us again and again and again...There is also a strange problem with the whole plotline: It takes place thirty years from now, yet nothing in the world has changed. Not in the slightest. Seriously? This is the author's vision of the future? But it's worse than that; between "books" it leaps another 50 years into the future, and everything is *still* the same. Including all the characters: to them, only three months have passed. Totally strange. It makes no sense to set the thing in the future (except maybe to make sure the real Jack Reacher had time to die first), so I just can't understand what's going on here.But if you ignore the dates and just read for the action, it's not an altogether bad read. And that's the highest praise I can summon for this book. '-/

set in the year 2098..........almost nothing in the book would indicate this setting. Still have flip phones and gasoline cars (though electric were increasing) Illegal gun purchase for $300, but could still buy shells for almost as much? Story could have been better if set in current times without trying to be in a future time without any context. If he was a clone of Jack Reacher...........he was a poor repo. I finished because I just wanted to see how the story ended and to see how bas I truly was. Really wish I hadn't wasted my time. The fight scenes were from someone who had never been in a fight.

The stories were fairly predictable, but I really had a hard time believing that the first book was set in 2058 or that the second one was set in 2098. There are almost no newspapers now, due to digitalization, and it's fairly likely that there will not be newspapers in 2058 and surely not in 2098. Same with weapons, restaurant styles, clothing, transportation, and most things in these books. Meh. I got the set for free and that's about what it's worth.

It was OK - there was a lot of action and you could identify with the lead character, but there were so man things that were totally illogical. What were the chances of him running into the one key person in the world to start him on his quest - on an empty highway in the middle of nowhere? Also - the story is set about 80 years in the future for no good reason, and there is no indication that there is anything advanced more than a few years. Cars are still gas powered, pay phones use coins! Really irritating. Also - the connection with Jack Reacher is totally spurious - I am surprised it was allowed. Also - each "Book" was really a long chapter in the story. Meh!

The story could have been much better. For one thing, it's set in 2098 - but except for a few throw-away references like more electric cars, there's no real sense of this being 80 years in the future. It would have been better to set it present day if the author wasn't going to try harder than that on the setting. Of course, that would have meant skipping the "Jack Reacher" connection, which is probably the only reason that most people bought the book. And yes, I read the disclaimer that Reacher doesn't appear in this book - but since his (past) involvement in the whole set-up was basically an accident, it just felt like a cheap hook.I'll wait for the "real" Reacher.

Save time and money. Do not buy, rent or read it even if it is available for free. There are much better books that provide basic introduction to security (first half of the book) and Network Security (second half of the book). Understanding Cryptography (Paar, Pelzl), Cryptography and Network Security (Stallings) and Applied Cryptography (Schneier) are good alternatives covering same/similar topics.The cryptography part of the book is incomprehensible (when compared to the other better books listed above). The Network Security part of the book is very scant with actual details of how protocols provide security. The chapter on cloud security is incoherent with little content dealing on actual cloud security and more on basic cloud terminology/definitions. Most topics are two or three sentences in length. Wikipedia would probably provide more useful information.

Much of the material, especially from the offensive security perspective, is naive at best. Especially lacking are the chapters in the back half, including Cloud Security and Malware/Worms. The description of software exploitation in the first chapter is downright incorrect, defying basic operating systems knowledge (no, local variables are not allocated on the heap). For students exploring security for the first time, please dig deeper than this.

Heather is a charter member of the Sugar Land (TX) Choral Society, founded by one of her former students. She is listed in Whos Who in America, 60th Edition and Whos Who of American Women. Heather was named Teacher of the Year at the 2011 Texas Music Teachers Association (TMTA) State Convention - awarded for the highest service to and representation of TMTA, Music Teachers National Association and the music teaching profession, in addition to an excellent record in the teaching profession. Her students actively participate in the National Federation of Music Clubs Gold Cup Festival and have received numerous awards for music theory, composition, publication and ensemble at TMTA state conventions.

Really pleased with this series. My 5th grader is learning a real instrument for the first time this year and feels very lost in his band class...even though he has had music instruction in school. He distances himself from the teacher because it is intimidating to him, and this just worsens the situation. So, we have taken these books (starting with the 2nd grade version) and are doing a page a day. They are taking only about 10 minutes to explain/do. He is already feeling more confident, and he realizes that he isn’t nearly as lost as he thought he was. Sure, he still doesn’t love music, but given time, his anxiety will decrease and his aptitude increase as a result of these theory books...and I'm sure he won't dislike it in the future. He already knows that we plan on continuing on with them for quite some time, but will surely slow down once he is at pace with his peers. Yes, they do take guidance (either with a private music teacher or a parent), so you cannot just hand them the book and expect them to be self-taught. Music is simply a different language, and I could never expect a book to teach my child Spanish, without a Spanish-speaking person guiding him. But, they are not difficult for an adult to understand, even if its been quite some time since I picked up an instrument. So, definitely a good pace, but definitely not hands-off for parents.

My students really enjoy this series of theory books--I've used several different books. I teach multiple stringed instruments lessons. Any voice or instrument student that reads treble and/or bass clef will learn something from these. I would like a little more explanation in some areas but for the casual learner, these are great books. The kids have no problems getting through the exercises even if some are a little confusing.

These are an excellent supplement and review to piano theory. They are easy to use, fun and include many pages. The layout is crisp and clean and inviting. The Fun pages are truly fun, and they are very affordable. We purchased the Alfred's Essentials of Music Theory and while it does move faster, it doesn't have enough practice or review for things to stick. This has plenty of both.

Comprehensive and easy to follow study book for a music theory deficient senior student (66), recommended to me by my professional music (piano) teacher.

Pretty childish design, even for many kids, but it is a good set of workbooks for the beginner pianist, or anyone who needs a refresh from the very beginning.

Theory Time is the only theory I use...it is clear, succinct, and gives several pages of work each time a new concept is introduced...they also have an excellent product for adult beginners that combines the 1st 3 books into one which is Theory Time: Medallion Series - Theory Fundamentals Comprehensive...sold here on Amazon

Exactly what the piano teacher requested

I can't say enough good things about this theory series. I purchased this grade 2 book for a seven year old beginning piano student that is reading on a third grade level.
